The Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) and Wireless Advertising Industry Association (WAIA) Thursday announced the formation of the Wireless Advertising Association (WAA).
Composed of IAB’s Wireless Ad Council and WAIA, the new group aims to establish workable and effective global guidelines for wireless Internet and other wireless applications.
Both organizations launched similar efforts within the last month but decided that standards could be best achieved by working together, said Tim DePriest, a director at AdForce and interim president of WAIA.
"Our efforts now will go a long way towards speeding the learning curve for wireless advertising and applications. We are excited to combine our efforts to spur the growth of this vital new platform in the coming months," said IAB chairman Rich LeFurgy.
