RSA staffers leave in wake of ad


Production company RSA USA confirmed it "has ended its business relationships" with two of its staffers and Creative Management Partners, the commercial sales representative for RSA, over an ad they created lampooning the striking Screen Actors Guild.

RSA USA in a news release late May 24 cited "the offensive ad" for the departures of Commercial Director Marcus Nispel, Managing Director Linda Ross, as well as Tim Case and his company, CMP.

The offending print ad was placed by Mr. Nispel two weeks ago in the TV commercial production newsweekly Shoot. It featured a photo of a woman's breasts with the caption "In South Africa, this is what SAG means." SAG members responded by picketing the West Hollywood, Calif., office of RSA USA.

Film directors Ridley and Tony Scott, who own RSA USA, at that time issued a statement saying, "We knew nothing about this ad and are as upset, sickened and appalled by it as anyone else."
