Dot.Com Ad Spending Up 54 % in 6 Months

Spending on the Internet has increased a significant 54 percent from January to June this year from $818,543,000 to $1,263,815,400, according to AdZone Interactive. AdZone boasts a new technology that calculates total ad expenditures on the Internet quickly and accurately.

"Brand expenditures, Web Site and Web Site Network revenues continue to grow significantly despite talk of a dot.com slow down," notes John Cardona, president of AdZone Interactive.

According to AdZone, in June, the top 10 brands alone spent $367 million with realnetworks.com leading all others at $103 million. Film.com was a distant second at $69.2 million. Again, Aol.com lead top spending Web Sites in June, at $65 million in revenues with yahoo.com following at $46 million and ebay.com at $32 million. Yahoo! Inc., Microsoft Corp., Lycos Inc. and America Online remained the top revenue generating Web Site Networks in June.

AdZone Interactive is an advertising research firm specializing in the automated retrieval, classification, analysis and delivery of worldwide Internet advertising data. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, AdZone will track advertising on the over 1,000 web sites that comprise more than 95 percent of all Internet advertising revenue from banners, text ads, keywords, links, buttons pop-ups, interstitials and hover text. No other tracker includes online services' web sites such as AOL and MSN as well as the web publications and search engines that account for half the advertising dollars on the net.
