When Charles Sandage founded the Department of Advertising in the then College of Communications (now College of Media) at the University of Illinois in 1959, he wasn’t thinking about making history. He was fulfilling part of his vision of making advertising education a discipline and scholarly endeavor. And since that time, the Department of Advertising has been making history.
We invite you to campus on September 25-26, 2009, to commemorate our heritage and celebrate our future.
In honor of Charles Sandage’s belief that advertising educators and professionals should be more collaborative, the Sandage Symposium 2009 will kick off our 50th Anniversary celebration. This two-day event will provide the forum for professors and professionals to exchange ideas and discuss current issues facing the industry.
The Symposium will culminate in a tribute to Charles Sandage and a celebration of the Department of Advertising’s past as well as its future.
