Introduction
Agenda and Video
Linda Scott is an associate professor of women's studies, advertising, and
art at the University of Illinois. She writes on the impact of imagery
and on the politics of personal appearance. Her newest book, Fresh Lipstick:
Redressing Fashion and Feminism will be available in January 2005. In this
book, Professor Scott challenges the traditional antifashion stance of the feminist
movement, using extensive historical evidence to show that its effect is to
control and exclude rather than liberate.
Her previous book is Persuasive Imagery: A Consumer Response Perspective.
